Biography

Dhanush, whose birth name is Venkatesh Prabhu, is a prominent Indian film personality known for his work as an actor, producer, lyricist, and playback singer, primarily in Tamil cinema. He garnered the National Film Award for Best Actor in 2011 for his performance in the Tamil film “Aadukalam.” That same year, his song “Why This Kolaveri Di” achieved global recognition, becoming the most viewed Indian song on YouTube. By 2014, he had accumulated five Filmfare Awards.

His acting career began with “Thulluvadho Ilamai” (2002), a coming-of-age film directed by his father, Kasthuri Raja. In the subsequent decade, Dhanush appeared in 25 films and made his Bollywood debut in 2013 with the movie “Raanjhanaa.”
